toshiba-tegra

For the last week or two, sites such as Netbook Planet and Ubergizmo have been recycling the same leaked data sheet from Toshiba which suggests the imminent arrival of a new Nvidia Tegra T20-based smartbook, based on Android and dubbed the AC100-114.  While it’s hard to get too excited about a system not yet confirmed for shipping date, after seeing so many prototype smartbooks fall by the wayside, video fans in particular should love this 2-lb. platform.  It offers full 1080p HD playback and an HDMI port, along with 16 Gbytes of solid-state storage.

Kudos to Toshiba for moving ahead with an Android 2.1 implementation, rather than waiting for Chrome OS.  The system is supposed to ship with SHDC memory card and ports for both Wi-Fi and Ethernet.  Now please, can we take this Tegra smartbook out of prototype?  None of us are getting any younger….
